Lok Jagriti Sansthan

Lok Jagriti Sansthan is working towards women empowerment since its inception. The organisation has through its various activities concluded that poverty and illiteracy were the basic causes affecting women empowerment. Once these basic issues are addressed, with the right kind of training for capacity building and creating necessary awareness, women empowerment will be gradually possible.

Women empowerment includes:

• Awareness generation for rights and entitlements of women. The rights include right to work, right to information and right to health. The focus is on women from backward and minority categories.
• Formation of self-help groups and their strengthening. The SHGs are motivated to come forward to shoulder more responsibilities for addressing their grievances at appropriate problems and obtaining remedies.
• Empowering Dalit women and other marginalised groups for better access to their livelihood. The components include formation of community organisations, advocacy and campaign, gender mainstreaming, planning, monitoring and evaluation, coordination meetings, network and alliance building activities, etc. Women Empowerment Awareness and Capacity Building Programme

Child welfare activities include:

• Running of day care centre for handicapped children to provide education, health care, vocational training and other needs of such children.
• Awareness programme for handicapped children, suffering from mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy and multiple disability
• Child immunisation, in association with government programmes like pulse polio immunisation, vitamin A programme, etc.
